THITURGS

You can now get Kate Middleton's wedding perfume in the states
Illuminum, the fragrance company that made Kate Middleton's wedding fragrance opened a new boutique in Henri Bendel's in New York City last week, and I stopped in to do some serious sniffing.
Now, first, I know you want to know what the royal wedding perfume smelled like, right? It was White Gardenia Petals, a really feminine blend of gardenia, ylang ylang, lily of the valley, and jasmine. It's like a spring garden in a bottle.

Now, a little about the company: Illuminum launched in the U.K. in January 2011 featuring a group of anonymous perfumers who create interesting combinations using high-quality ingredients in one of four categories: floral, citrus, musk, and oud. It's made quite a splash overseas, thanks to rich mixes that really last on skin, and now they've come to the U.S. with their first fragrance lounge.

And, of course, all the editors at the event wanted to get a whiff of the Duchess's scent, but that's not the one I'm obsessed with. The one their fragrance expert matched me with based on the scents I'm usually drawn to: Black Musk.

It's complex and warm and delicious mix of patchouli, musk, and tonka bean, and it makes me want to glue my wrist to my nose every time I spray it on. No jokeit's that fantastic.

Curious? You can find part of the collection at henribendel.com. Or stop in next time if you find yourself around Midtown in NYC and get a whiff.

Twenty-eight of the defendants in the case, which stemmed from a February 1, 2012, post-game stampede that left 74 people dead, were acquitted, including seven police officers. Seven others were sentenced to prison terms of between one and 15 years.

The deaths after the match between Cairo's al Ahly club and Port Said's al Masry indelibly altered soccer's place in this nation. In the aftermath, the government cancelled the remainder of last year's season, and this year, it banned spectators from all soccer games.

Now, the conflict has become part of the country's growing political instability, with the case becoming a focal point of anti-government violence.

On Saturday, plumes of smoke rose over both Port Said and Cairo as crowds of angry men used the court action as an excuse to confront police, often without success because many of the country's security forces have gone on strike.

Officers in Port Said, for example, had abandoned their posts on Friday, and crowds had to find new targets because the police stations had already been burned in previous protests. With no authorities to clash with, they set tyres ablaze near the Suez Canal and protested downtown.

In Cairo, where police remained on duty, mobs set a police officers' club on fire and burned the offices of the country's soccer association across the street. At least one death was reported dvd to iphone.

In both cities it fell to the army to put out fires and try to restore order without firing a weapon.

Overall, the violence was less than in January, when a court first issued the 21 death sentences, all to al Masry fans for plotting the violence. At least 57 people died in the several days of violence that followed that verdict.

The mixed verdict on Saturday left both sides unhappy. Al Masry fans complained that the court was trying to pacify al Ahly fans, while al Ahly fans were disappointed that more police officers hadn't been found guilty of collusion in the stampede.

"We don't know whether to celebrate or cry," said Ahmed Hany, 20, a diehard fan - known in Egypt an "ultra" - of Port Said's al Masry team.

As Judge Sobhi Abdel-Maguid read out the eight-minute ruling in a packed and tense Cairo courtroom, fans around the nation reacted with horror and joy, executive gift products depending on which team they supported.

As the judge first announced that he was upholding the death sentence "by hanging" of 21 fans, Hany, who was at the 2012 game, screamed in horror at the conviction of his friends. In Cairo, three hours away, al Ahly "ultras", gathered at their headquarters, cheered.

Minutes later as the judge announced the acquittal of most of the police officers named in the case, Hany screamed for joy, while in Cairo, Claire Hsu the al Ahly fans reacted with bitterness.

Despite the rulings, the case is far more from over. Both sides have said they plan to appeal.

The 266th Rome election of the Pope Alerter l'administrateur Recommander à un ami Lien de l'article

The conclave of 115 cardinal electors starts voting on Tuesday in a centuries-old tradition that will result in the election of the 266th pope.

French cardinal Andre Vingt-Trois, the Archbishop of Paris, told AFP in an interview there were around "half a dozen possible candidates".

Italian cardinal Angelo Scola, the Archbishop of Milan, is often cited as a favourite, along with Canada's Marc Ouellet and Brazil's Odilo Scherer.

Other names mentioned have been Hungary's Peter Erdo, Mexico's Jose Francisco Robles Ortega, Austria's Christoph Schoenborn and Sri Lanka's Albert Malcolm Ranjith.

Luis Antonio Tagle, the Archbishop of Manila, is also a possible.

The cardinals will on Tuesday move into a Vatican residence, St Martha's House, where they will live for the duration of the conclave.

Cardinals will swear a solemn oath not to reveal the secrets of their deliberations on pain of excommunication.

Windows at St Martha's House will be locked and telephones are for internal use only.

Ballots will usually be burnt daily at 1100 GMT (2200 AEDT) and 1800 GMT (0500 AEDT). Smoke will be black if no two-thirds majority has been found or white to signal that a papal election has taken place.

The conclave could last up to a few days.

Vatican workers have put the final touches on preparations for the Sistine Chapel, blacking out windows to prevent spying on the conclave and installing scrambling devices to prevent communication with the outside world.

No one except the "cardinal electors" - cardinals below the age of 80 - can be present during the two daily rounds of voting.

Once the new pope accepts his nomination, he emerges onto a balcony overlooking St Peter's Square to a cheering crowd and the Latin cry of "Habemus Papam"! ("We Have a Pope!")

Tension reducing noise Alerter l'administrateur Recommander à un ami Lien de l'article

North Korea has a habit of linking high-profile military tests with key dates in its annual calendar. The centenary of Kim's birth last year was preceded by a long-range rocket test that ended in failure.

South Korean intelligence says the North has had two medium-range missiles primed and ready to fire for nearly a week, with many observers tapping Monday's anniversary as a likely launch date shoe storage furniture.

US Secretary of State John Kerry, currently in Japan on the last leg of a whirlwind North-East Asia tour, warned North Korea when he was in Seoul on Friday that a launch in the current climate would be a "huge mistake".

The Korean peninsula has been in a state of heightened military tension since the North carried out its third nuclear test in February.

Incensed by fresh UN sanctions and joint South Korea-US military exercises, Pyongyang has spent weeks issuing blistering threats of missile strikes and nuclear war.

During his visits in Seoul, Beijing and Tokyo, Kerry talked tough on the North's "unacceptable" rhetoric, but also sought to lower the temperature slightly by supporting a dialogue with Pyongyang and saying he would be prepared to reach out to North Korea.

He also urged North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to lead his country back to negotiations baby shoe online.

"We're prepared to reach out, but we need the appropriate moment, appropriate circumstances," Kerry said on Sunday.

In Seoul, he gave Washington's public blessing to peace overtures made by South Korea's new president, Park Geun-hye, who in recent days has signalled the need to open a dialogue and "listen to what North Korea thinks".

The North's immediate response to her latest remarks was negative, with a spokesman for the North's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea suggesting the dialogue overtures were a "cunning" ploy.

Monday's celebrations in Pyongyang will have their usual martial flavour, with a large military parade that North Korea uses to showcase its weaponry to the world home storage.

The missiles mobilised by the North are reported to be untested Musudan models with an estimated range of up to 4000 kilometres.

That would cover any target in South Korea and Japan, and possibly even US military bases on the Pacific island of Guam.

Boston student death Alerter l'administrateur Recommander à un ami Lien de l'article

Rotorua coroner Wallace Bain described the deaths of Daniela Lekhno, 20, Roch Jauberty and Austin Brashears, both 21, as a dreadfully sad tragedy.

The trio were killed when the minivan they were in crashed while they were on their way to walk the Tongariro Alpine Crossing on May 12 last year.

The court heard the van driver Stephen Houseman had warned his passengers to buckle up before they left Taupo and again after a refuelling stop at Turangi.

The three students who died and a fourth, Meg Theriault, who was seriously injured were not buckled in when the people carrier, the last minivan in a three-vehicle convoy, crashed.

Three others who had been strapped in weren't seriously injured.

"If ever there was a clear message for the need to wear seatbelts then this is it," Dr Bain said.

He heard that Houseman, who hadn't previously driven on New Zealand's roads, hit gravel on the side of the road, overcorrected and crossed the centre line, with the van rolling four times before ending up on its roof.

Dr Bain said he has seen the bodies of the dead students and they had been beautiful young people.

He released a statement from Tom and Julie Brashears which said their son Austin had dreamed of going to New Zealand for years and loved every minute "in your beautiful country".

When he died his New Zealand bucket list was almost complete, with the Tongariro hike and being an extra in the Hobbit still to come.

In a statement to the coroner, the editor of the Dog and Lemon Guide, Clive Matthew-Wilson, suggested that the line at the edge of the tar seal be moved 150mm inward, and called for Electronic Stability Control devices on all rental vehicles.

Houseman, 20, pleaded guilty last June to three counts of reckless driving causing death and four counts of careless driving causing injury. He was convicted and discharged and disqualified from driving for six months.

The coroner reserved his findings.

Tens of thousands of more people can feel the harm of gambling Alerter l'administrateur Recommander à un ami Lien de l'article

The government on Monday released papers discussing the potential harm of the deal after unveiling the final details of the agreement with SkyCity on Saturday.

The casino operator will build a $402 million international convention centre in Auckland, in exchange for an extension of its Auckland casino licence out to 2048, 230 more pokie machines, 40 more gaming tables and new cashless gaming technology.

Currently in New Zealand, there are 2800 gaming machines and 200 gaming tables, with more than 1600 machines and more than 100 tables at SkyCity Auckland.

The concessions will increase nationwide pokie machine numbers by 8.2 per cent, while table numbers will increase by 20 per cent.

Discussing the potential harm of increased machine and table numbers in early 2011, the Department of Internal Affairs noted 2006/07 figures showing 87,000 adults experienced problems over the previous 12 months due to someone's gambling.

Of those people, 33 per cent said gaming machines were involved, while 8.1 per cent said table games were involved.

DIA said it was reasonable to assume a similar number of children were affected - taking the total number affected to about 174,000 - 57,500 because of machines and 14,000 because of tables.

Based on DIA's figures, the new concessions could see an additional 4714 people affected by gaming machines and an extra 2800 affected by casino tables - a total of 7514 people雪纤瘦.

DIA said putting a cost on that harm was "very difficult".

Only a fraction of those affected by problem gambling seek help, and the cost of intervention services is only a fraction of the harm costs, which range from poor parenting to crime, lost productivity, family issues and suicide.雪纤瘦

SkyCity will also introduce new harm-prevention measures as part of the deal, including identifying at-risk players, running a voluntary pre-commitment system to restrict spending or time playing, doubling the number of host responsibility specialists, and some new player identification requirements.雪纤瘦
